Easter Eggs - Natural Dyes

The tradition of dyeing Easter eggs has been around for centuries, long before stores sold ready made kits with colored tablets. Did you know that foods like red cabbage, onions, and beets contain high levels of tannins, which makes them good dyes? Learn how to dye your eggs with these around-the-house natural ingredients during a two hour program at the Creek Bend Farm Wilson Nature Center. Please bring 6-12 eggs, raw or hardboiled, per participant. Registration required.

Signs of Spring

Springtime in Ohio is marked by melting snow, beautiful wildflowers, bird migrations, and an abundance of wildlife. Join naturalist Sarah at the Christy Farm Nature Preserve for an hour long walk through the woods to learn about the sights and sounds of spring. This program is weather dependent. Registration is required.

Big Bird Year 2023

This program will be offered each month throughout 2023. The term "big year" in birding is a reference for challenging yourself to see as many bird species in one year as possible. The species you see or hear also needs to be documented by at least one other person for it to count. If you are new to birding or want to take on this challenge with others, join naturalist Debbie Haubert each month for a bird hike. The hikes will rotate through various habitats to give us the best opportunity for a high species count. Registration is required. Please bring your own binoculars.

Nibbles Adventure Club: Wildflowers

Nibbles Adventure Club programs are for families with children ages 4-10 years old. Participants will receive the NAC booklet at their first program. After completing four NAC activities, you will receive a pin. This month we will learn to identify wildflowers. Registration is required.

Party Animals!

It's time to party! Nibbles, Betty, Dilly, Emmy, Smarty and all the nature center animals are celebrating their birthdays. Come join us to make party masks, create animal enrichment presents, make birthday treats, and sign a birthday banner. Registration is requested, walk-ins are welcome.

Sunday Stroll

Did you know that regular walks outdoors have been shown to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, improve moods, and benefit sleep? If you are looking for new places to get outside and explore, this series of monthly walks with a naturalist is a great place to start. Each month we will be visiting a new location in one of our county parks, and taking a leisurely hour long stroll. Register online, and come dressed for the weather.

Wildflower Walk

The woods are alive with color! Spring wildflowers are bursting with colors and much easier to identify. Join a guided hike to learn identification tips on our native wildflowers. Registration is required.

Warbler ID for Beginners

Springtime in Ohio is full of the colors and sounds of birds in migration. In this program you will learn how to identify Spring warblers by recognizing their song, field markings, behavior, and preferred habitat. We will be meeting at the Creek Bend Farm Wilson Nature Center for a classroom presentation. Registration is required.
